Training.
Ms. Brandon has been studying and practicing yoga since 2000, while earning her B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She completed her RYT 200 hour yoga certification through Black Mountain Yoga in 2014, and her RCYT 95 hour children’s yoga certification in 2016 with ChildLight Yoga. Ms. Brandon is a lifelong student, completing her certification in Creative Relaxation®, a therapeutic yoga program for children with Autism and Special Needs. In 2020, she completed the RYT 300 program with Asheville Yoga Center, and has a RYT 500, concentrating on therapeutic yoga and meditation.
Experience.
Ms. Brandon holds a Master's degree in Special Education from Western Carolina University, is a highly qualified educator, and has 20 years' experience working with children and children with special needs. Ms. Brandon began teaching for the Asheville City School System in 2005 as a classroom assistant, and then moved to Buncombe County in 2008 as a Special Education Teacher in the elementary schools. For the past 7 years, she has been teaching yoga and providing yoga therapeutically to children and adults.
Personal.
Ms. Brandon has been able to connect with children even at a young age. Her lifelong career, and passion in life, is teaching yoga to children of all ages and abilities. Ms. Brandon provides clear and consistent boundaries for children to learn and grow. She honors their space and allows the freedom to express themselves. Ms. Brandon’s playful, gentle style allows both kids and adults to find a personal connection to their yoga practice.
Ms. Brandon lives in the Asheville, NC area. She loves to be out in nature with her family. She enjoys hiking with her Australian cattle dog Belle. In addition to planning fun and creative yoga lessons, listening to music, reading, traveling, paddle boarding, and beading are some of her other favorite activities.
