Rebranded and it Feels So Right!

Rebranding….I never really understood the purpose of this until I went through the process myself. Thinking back to the beginning of developing the Kids Yoga business, I went through a few different names, and none of them felt right. I remember sitting down one night in 2014 and brainstorming all the different possibilities. Listing out names and adjectives and all the combinations of these things. When I finally found one that I liked I discovered it was already taken! Oh well, the creative process was fun.

I finally settled on Grow with Yoga, because it sounded cool and included all ages and abilities and set a nice metaphor for the individual practice of yoga. It took a year or two to come up with that name for the business. I even had a nifty web address with a dot life (.life) instead of a dot com (.com). Lots of metaphorical imagery with that name, but it was too vague and didn’t showcase me.

The name Yoga with Ms. Brandon came straight from the kids and their parents. As a Kids Yoga Teacher with a male sounding name, it was imperative to place the prefix “Ms.” in front of Brandon to avoid any confusion. “Ms.” is also a term of respect that adults ask children to use when speaking to other adults. Personally I feel like it is a formally, but it has become my identity. Whenever parents would drop of their kids for yoga classes, or private yoga therapy, they would say, “Have fun doing yoga with Ms. Brandon.” And when that would come pick them up, “Did you have fun doing yoga with Ms. Brandon?” Yoga with Ms. Brandon, organically came from the parents, and it just felt right.

So last year, when I sought out to create an online presence with social media, I went to Instagram and started to work on my profile there. I changed my IG handle to Yoga with Ms. Brandon. That felt so right that I changed my Facebook page to Yoga with Ms. Brandon. Then in November 2020, I felt it was time for a new website, and www.yogawithmsbrandon.com was born!
